This 90mm (3 ½") deep, pressure distributing, overlay is permanently fitted on top of a traditional spring mattress. The top surface is covered in a vapour permeable, two way stretch wipe clean material. The base is covered with a tough coated PVC for sliding over any surface like stairs. It is held onto the bed with tucks which double as cocooning flaps to secure the patient in transit. The flexible nature of the overlay enables narrow stairs and doorways to be negotiated. With this device the patient does not have to be transferred. Two people required for evacuation.

The combination of slippery sheet and mattress which will flex, will pass through narrow doorways and down stairs. The holding strap at the head is to hold back on stairways. Two people required. Consists of a two layer foam; the lower layer firm to ride over any surfaces such as carpets, concrete, stairs, and a softer upper layer for patient comfort. There are safety belts and a foot pocket to hold the patient in place, pulling loops at each end and a tough slippery coated bottom side. The loop at the head is to hold back when descending stairways. Stored in a pouch and can hang on the wall. One or two people required to use.
